Photos and experiences from my masterclass at The Stauffer Center, Cremona
I have to share a few words (and photos) about my recent composition lab at the The Stauffer Center, Cremona in April. Four very intense days, with six very talented young composers. As well as sharing ideas and approaches on being a composer in the 2020s, I set two composition tasks each day. We explored the far extremes of music making, from pure-sound composition through simple melody writing, then we brought in electronics and extended string techniques. I was very impressed with what the students achieved in such a short time - the final concert was really special, and I’m really looking forward to next year’s course.
Thanks again to the fantastic team at Stauffer.
