Masterclass at the Stauffer Center - 18th-21st April 2023
Announcement for students and emerging composers: I am teaching a 4 day composition masterclass at The Stauffer Center in the historical Italian city of Cremona from 18th-21st April 2023.
The course is COMPLETELY FREE (though you need to cover travel & accommodation). It is sponsored by the Stauffer Foundation, who opened The Stauffer Center just 16 months ago in a beautifully renovated Palazzo in the heart of Cremona (the birthplace of the violin), and most classes will be held in the atmospheric 'Stradivari Room'.
During the course, we will reevaluate our role as composers and reconsider the potential of contemporary classical music in the context of the 21st century; I will share approaches to both acoustic & electronic composition, and performance practice.
Spaces are limited, please send in your application before the deadline on 10th March 2023, and please share this info with any student or emerging composers that you know.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The course is open to Italian and foreign composers. String instrumentalists are also invited to participate, to explore together with Gabriel his musical universe.
Age limit: 30 years
Level of training: Bachelor or Master Degree
Students of higher courses and candidates who, regardless of their qualifications, meet exceptional requirements may also be admitted.
