Boccherini / Beethoven / Prokofiev - Milan World Premiere 30th November
WORLD PREMIER ALERT – This Thursday 30th Nov my new work 'Goya Images: 'Yo Sólo Veo Luces y Sombras' will be premiered as a part of my 2023 collaborations with La Fil - Italy's youngest & most forward thinking Filharmonic Orchestra. This new work will be performed by guest string quartet Quatetto Eos and myself on live electronics. It's inspired by the paintings & engravings of Goya's late period - the darkness, personal criticism, humour & sadness...
This event is the second of a free three-part concert series bringing the art of Francisco Goya into dialogue with classical music in participation with the Palazzo Reale exhibition ‘Goya. La ribellione della ragione’ (‘Goya. The rebellion of reason’). The Quatetto Eos will perform a programme divided into three parts, each part inspired the themes of Goya’s poetics as explored in the exhibition. The concert will begin with works by two contemporaries of Goya, commencing with Boccherini’s String Quartet no. 6 op. 30 ‘La musica notturna delle strade di Madrid’, capturing the elements of the section ‘Il popolo si diverte’ (‘The people have fun’), followed by Beethoven, with his String Quartet No. 11 in F Minor op. 95 ‘Serioso’, representing the thematic elements of the section ‘Vigilare e denunciare‘ (‘Monitor and Report’), and finally concluding with my premiere, linked to the exhibition's showcased section illustrating critical freedom and the expansion of imagination.
