Piano Book No. 1
With this release, Gabriel Prokofiev turns his focus to the venerable tradition of the 'piano book', a form that has been shaped over the last two hundred years by composers such as Schumann, Chopin, Sergei Prokofiev, Bartok as well as more contemporary figures.
A collection of eleven short, contrasting movements, G Prokofiev's Piano Book pays homage to these composers while also moving in bold new directions. The rocking, swerving rhythms of pieces such as 'Key Pulses' and 'Fky House' show that this album is as much a product of today's frenetic city life as of piano music's distinguished heritage.
Acclaimed pianist GéNIA has performed at most of Britain's prestigious classical venues and is highly regarded as a radically innovative performer and teacher, particularly for her unique new approach to piano training, 'Piano-Yoga'.
